National Prevention Week

National Prevention Week is May 9-15, 2021

National Prevention Week logoPrevention Week (NPW), hosted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), is an annual national health observance focused on increasing the prevention of substance use and the promotion of mental health. Each year, communities and organizations across the country come together to raise awareness about the importance of substance use prevention and mental health promotion.

There are many ways for organizations and individuals to get involved during NPW, from hosting a prevention-themed event to participating in SAMHSA’s social media challenge...

NPW 2021: #YouthLeadingPrevention Video Challenge

In honor of NPW’s 10th anniversary, SAMHSA wants to highlight the outstanding prevention impacts that have been achieved, with an emphasis on youth leading prevention efforts.

Here’s How It Works

Identify youth leaders in your programs and encourage them to create and post videos to their social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) about their prevention efforts. Be sure they tag @SAMHSAgov and use the hashtag #YouthLeadingPrevention. Learn more.
